Ban on Travel To North Korea Shows (Once Again) How Un-Free Americans Really Are

Repressive governments treat citizens as if they are the property of the government. The most important place to start is with the minds of the citizens. Compulsory government schooling takes care of that.

Once the all-important minds of the citizens are conquered, government moves to the body.

Governments dictate what their citizens may (or may not) put into their bodies, and they even force certain pharmaceuticals into those bodies.

Since bodies produce wealth via labor, the next stop is for governments to assume that a citizen's earnings belong to the government first, and the government gets to decide how much the citizen is allowed to keep.

When mind, body, and earnings are taken care of, it's time to make sure that the citizens can't leave.

Countless examples have existed throughout history. The Berlin Wall was one of the most well known. Communist states like Cuba and North Korea view their citizens as property that must be kept within state lines in giant open-air prisons.
Americans like to sing jingles about how "free" they are, but there's no doubt that the modern American government views its citizens as their property.

Compulsory government schools? ... Check.

That's the crown jewel that makes the rest of this work.

What goes into American bodies is tightly controlled. The FDA, USDA, and other alphabet departments take care of the leg work. The War on Drugs and mandatory vaccinations also show everyone who the real boss is.

In America, your earnings belong to the government first (via the income tax). You keep what government allows you to keep.

What about travel? Do residents in "the land of the free" need permission to move their bodies from one place to another?

For the most part, Americans can still travel to most places. But the U.S. is one of the few nations that will financially shake you down if you find greener pastures somewhere else and make your vacation permanent.

Surely if you were free, you wouldn't need permission to travel anywhere. The only permission that you would need is from the property owner to whom you are traveling to. As long as you're not a trespasser, you should be free to go wherever you please on this earth.

It doesn't matter if the place you are traveling to is populated by people who believe in sun gods, or socialism. What if you happen to believe in sun gods and socialism? Shouldn't you be free to go where others share your interests?

It may be wise, or unwise to travel to these places, but that decision should be yours alone. Should you fall into trouble, you assume the risk. That's what it means to be free. You're free to take your own risks.

Freedom is man's natural state.

No one comes into the world with a king's crown on his head and no one leaves with one either. We also don't pass through "Customs" on our round trip in and out of this world.

When we're sloppy, there's an endless supply of authoritarians who will gladly take away every last ounce of our naturally-granted freedom.

Americans have been sloppy for a LONG time now...
