Truth, facts, thinking and logic are not the tools of political power. Politicians (and the people connected to politicians) are all about emotions. The primary emotion that they persistently target is fear. Scare the people enough and they become like putty in your hands. You can then take their money, their property, their dignity, and in extreme cases, even their lives. Since political power is the epicenter of greed, the goal is to keep people in a perpetual state of fear, and to never let up. The U.S. federal government has a budget of over $4 TRILLION, and it spends much more than that! Did that come about in the "land of the free" by politicians kindly knocking on everyone's door and asking for a donation to fund their "public service" operations? Of course not! This "system" is one of perpetual fear and subsequent plunder of the population. It has been nearly perfected over the course of the last 100 years. Once the income tax and Federal Reserve were created in 1913, this sad state of affairs became a virtual inevitability. Ironically, this grinding down of a once-free people is known as the "Progressive Era." In reality, it's been an era when the political classes have 'progressively' figured out new and better ways to shakedown the hard-working, productive population. It seems like Americans have seen it all... - Claims that boogeymen were coming to get us, when in truth no one was coming to get a country protected by 2(!) oceans and the most powerful military on Earth. Yet a century of never-ending war has kept one generation of Americans after another in perpetual fear. - Claims that the world was going to freeze over, or turn into a fireball. - Claims that the world would end if politically-connected corporations did not get taxpayer bailouts. - Claims that a virus would wipe out millions, and that politicians must adopt unheard-of tyrannical powers. - Claims...Claims...Claims... All outrageous. All at a steep price in money, privacy, life, health and liberty. Ron Paul has said a thousand times that you NEVER have to sacrifice your freedom in order to be safe. Liberty is non-negotiable. If government acts, it must act without violating our individual liberties. Throughout the last century, this was always an available choice for Americans. It was always an option. But Americans have sadly sacrificed liberty over-and-over to the point where the power hungry feel that they have achieved omnipotence. They have reached the point where if they say it is so, it is so. Human life will bend to their wishes and nothing will stop them. A century ago, Americans gave the power-hungry an inch, and now the power-hungry want it all! It has been a loss for everyone. The people lost almost all of their liberties, and the politicians lost all of their sanity. The politically-driven fears will continue to come, that is certain. What is not certain is at what point the American people finally decide that being afraid is too costly. We must individually choose to not be afraid and to embrace our God-given freedom. When that is done by enough people, a real and genuine "Progressive" Era, rooted in Liberty, can make the "land of the free" once again worthy to bear such a name. Comments are closed.
