Campaign for Liberty Chairman Ron Paul issued the following statement regarding the passing of noted libertarian economist Walter Williams: “With the passing of Walter Williams, the liberty movement has lost one of its sharpest, brightest, and wittiest advocates. Through his work as a professor, author, columnist, speaker, and guest host for Rush Limbaugh, Walter educated millions of Americans in free-market economics. He also gave those already converted to the cause of liberty invaluable intellectual ammunition for our battle against the statists. Walter was also a good friend of mine who participated in several events I sponsored on Capitol Hill. While many speakers pull their punches when addressing a room full of representatives, Walter delivered the same no-holds-barred message in the same no-holds-barred style he delivered to his students, his readers, and the audience for all of his speeches and media appearances. Walter’s use of humor to present the liberty message in an appealing way without watering it down provides an example for all would be libertarian communicators. All of us who love liberty should be grateful for the example Walter set and the legacy he leaves behind." Comments are closed.
